Silk Moths
Created for BA Fine Art, these pieces focused on the production of silk which I became fascinated with. Throughout the research and development of these pieces, I raised Silkworms to Moths to study them. As the only domesticated insect other than the Honey Bee, the Silkworm doesn't often get to become a SilkMoth. As a domesticated insect Silkworms have slowly lost their ability to survive in the wild. They are no longer able to see or climb trees.
The final piece was a Rearing house made from silk cocoon waste and filled with live silk worms, and a projection of one of my silkworms creating its cocoon.
